We don’t try to cover every corner of France. We specialise by going deeper in one place. We came to Limoux as enthusiasts. The more time we spent there, the more we discovered: individual producers, remarkable sparkling wines, characterful still wines and a region whose reputation has never quite caught up with what is actually being made there.

We taste. We meet growers. We buy. We import. We learn. Bottle by bottle, producer by producer, Whitmarsh is building a specialist UK business around the wines of Limoux and the Haute Vallée.

Limoux. France's sleeping giant.

Blanquette first brought us here. Then came Crémant. Then the still wines. And eventually the realisation that Limoux itself was the story.

Limoux, the Haute Vallée de l’Aude and the surrounding vineyards produce a breadth of wine that remains under-discovered outside France: the oldest sparkling wine method in the country, Crémant with real precision, Chardonnay and Chenin grown at altitude, and reds shaped by Atlantic and Mediterranean influence in the same valley.

The wine is already good. The market has simply not arrived yet. That gap is our business.
